Aaryaa Velani & Gandi Jeswant
Aaryaa Velani and G Jeswant are designers and collaborators who pursued their bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from the National Institute of Design, Assam. Their practice is centered on fiber-based materials, examining how material behavior transforms across landscapes, and how craft becomes a means through which communities adapt, respond, and sustain their ways of life.
Their shared interest in craft, materials, and community-led processes brought them together to work closely with artisans from the Northeast region of India.
Their installation Duita (2024) is currently on view at the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Centre for Design, Red Fort, Delhi, created in collaboration with the water hyacinth artisans from Majuli, Assam. Their upcoming work, the Enhi Project (2025), continues their engagement with fiber, form, and collective memory, developed with the Chakhesang tribe of Chizami, Nagaland.
