Barkha is a mixed-media artist and visual storyteller whose practice explores the intersections of identity, memory, and space. Drawing from an early exposure to architecture and spatial thinking, her work investigates the intimacy and interaction between the self and its surroundings, examining both physical and perceived spaces, as well as the body as a site of experience and memory.

Working across drawing, painting, printmaking, and textiles, she documents and responds to her environment through layered visual narratives. Recurring themes in her practice include home, belonging, personal and collective memory, and the shifting relationship between the historic and the contemporary. Inspired by both natural forms and built structures, her visual language brings together organic forms, geometric interventions, and textured surfaces, creating spaces for reflection and dialogue.

Historical and contextual research often informs her process, allowing her work to engage with broader cultural and social narratives while remaining rooted in personal observation. Her formative years at Mirambika, an alternative school based on the philosophy of Integral Education, continue to shape her approach to art-making through an emphasis on introspection, self-inquiry, and holistic learning.

Barkha studied at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore, and Malmö University, Sweden. Her work has been exhibited at Tate Modern, London; Apparao Galleries with The Art Platform; Samukha Gallery, Bangalore; the Kochi-Muziris Biennale Student Biennale; Art Alive, New Delhi; and Pulp Society, New Delhi, among other venues
