Marion Flament
Marion Flament (b. 1989, Reims) lives and works in Paris. Her practice focuses on places, materials, and the light that shapes them, resulting in installations, sculptures, and images that subtly distort reality. She constructs visual fictions from fleeting shifts in perception, often isolating key moments to create freeze-frame effects where time appears suspended. Through trompe-l'œil, illusion, and scenographic strategies influenced by theater, her work reveals the strangeness embedded in everyday environments, with light acting as a primary agent that transforms matter.
Site-specificity is central to Flament’s approach, with exhibition spaces directly informing the form of her works. She trained at École Boulle and graduated with highest honors from EnsAD Paris in 2014, later pursuing postgraduate research in interactive lighting at EnsAD-LAB. Her practice has been supported by grants and residencies including the Hermès Glassmaking Academy and Casa de Velázquez, Madrid.
Selected exhibitions include Scorching Sun at the Saint-Sauveur Site, Vendée (2021), Dear Spectator, You Are in a Space at Castel Coucou, Forbach (2021), The Song of the Earth at the Basilica of Saint-Denis, Paris (2020), and Brasero at the Madeleine Chapel, Arles (2019).
