Reppandee Lepcha is a practising artist from Sikkim whose work navigates the layered intersections of calligraphy, texture, natural forms, and constructed surfaces. At the heart of her practice lies a deep connection to Rong, the Lepcha script, now spoken by only a few even within her own community. By embedding it into clay, fabric, paper, she transforms language into visual patterns, reimagining a script on the edge of silence and inviting younger generations to reclaim their cultural roots. Her evolving process embraces diverse materials, from clay, textile, paints to paper-mache and found natural elements. Repetition becomes both structure and rhythm in her work.

Before turning into arts, she completed an M.Sc in Chemistry from Visva-Bharati University. Her journey into ceramics began through a workshop by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata. This experience inspired her to enroll in a one-year ceramics course at Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan, where she learned the fundamentals of pottery. She went on to work as a studio artist at SSVAD, Santiniketan, and later interned and worked at Arthshila in Santiniketan and Delhi. Through these roles, she gained hands-on experience in both art-making and arts programming, contributing to exhibitions and related projects while building her own artistic practice.

She has participated in microSPILLS (Mar-May 2025), a two-month intensive educational programme organised by the KNMA in collaboration with Mizoram University, which culminated in a pop-up exhibition. She was an Artist-in-Residence at Space Studio, Vadodara (Oct 2025 – Jan 2026). Her work is currently on view at the Students’ Biennale, part of the ongoing Kochi-Muziris Biennale (Dec 2025 – Mar 2026).
