Santosh Pattar is a Bengaluru-based artist from Kustagi Taluk in North Karnataka. He completed his initial education at Vijaya College of Fine Arts, Gadag, in 2019, and later moved to Bengaluru to pursue higher studies at Bengaluru University, graduating in 2021. His practice has been shaped by both academic training and a strong connection to his rural roots.
Santosh has presented a solo exhibition at 1 Shanthi Road, Bengaluru (2025), and participated in several group exhibitions, including Travel Plants at 1 Shanthi Road Studio, Hidden Games of the Western Ghats at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, and Lines of Insight at Nexus Art, Ahmedabad (all 2025). He has also taken part in residencies such as the Sara Pro Seed Residency and the Space Studio Baroda Summer Residency in 2025.
Deeply interested in folk art as a living tradition, Santosh develops a distinctive visual language that imagines an ideal village where humans, birds, animals, and nature coexist harmoniously. Influenced by folk and miniature painting, his work is marked by lyrical lines, careful detail, and a celebratory spirit. Through his paintings, he explores themes of abundance, village life, and a utopian balance, embarking on a poetic and spiritual journey that reflects love for his land and a harmonious way of life.
