Widi Pangestu
Widi Pangestu, born in Bandung and based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, is an emerging artist who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) in 2021.
Known for his mastery of traditional papermaking techniques, he transforms paper into a medium of dialogue between individuals, culture, and nature, reflecting connections across past, present, and future.
His practice emphasizes the materiality of paper, treating it as both a functional and historical medium, while his use of monochromatic tones evokes the tension between reality and void.
Pangestu has participated in papermaking workshops across Southeast Asia and taken part in residencies such as the Years of Culture: Dialogue of Paper program at Qatar Museums in Doha, as well as projects with Richard Koh Fine Art Gallery and Blue Art Centre.
