Ramya is a Sculptor and Ceramic artist. She is trained as Sculptor, receiving her UG degree in Sculpture from College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. As her interest in clay practice and the newly fascinating medium of Ceramics grew during her UG, after its completion, she pursued the material study of Ceramics in Chennai for 1yr. She further continued her practice in Ceramics, experimenting with the new material Glass, further widening her research through her PG degree in Ceramics and Glass design from Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan.
Besides her personal practice, one part of her work involves exploring the possibilities of ceramics in architectural structures as installations, functional juxtapositions and murals, and the other evolves around working with the local potters’ community to evolve it’s local clay practices attempting an introduction of her research of earthenware glazes using naturally available raw materials.
