Advanced Shibori Techniques with Slow Fabric
19-21 January 2026
An intensive three-day workshop exploring the intricacies of traditional Japanese Shibori, led by master artisans Takuma Shimada and Yusuke Miura of Slow Fabric Studio, Japan.
Designed for experienced practitioners with prior knowledge of natural dyeing and tie-dye, the workshop offers an opportunity to engage with advanced resist-dyeing techniques and deepen an understanding of the relationship between fabric, form and pattern.
Across three days, participants explore a distinct Shibori technique each day: Kirameki Shibori, Ori-Nui Shibori and Gangi-Tatsumaki Shibori. Through guided, hands-on practice, the workshop delves into the precision, patience and material understanding that underpin these intricate textile processes.
Bringing specialised Japanese textile knowledge into dialogue with contemporary material practices, the workshop creates a space for focused learning, experimentation and exchange.
